Below  is the layout for the one piece burl table top we have decided to move forward with ( 2/5/2010).
Burl Root Table of Tyler.
The table top of this piece will be of solid burl, 3 inches thick!
This incredible and stunning burl comes from a California Redwood tree root. The tree was over 1,000 years old and the root had to be cut in half just to get it to fit onto a semi - low boy trailer.

Tyler, below is the Redwood root that this burl material came from. The root was too tall to legally be hauled even on a low boy semi trailer and had to be cut in half in order to transport.
At the base of the photo you can see the edge of the hole created by it's removal from the ground. It should be noted that no live tree cut in order to obtain this root. However, it is the remains of logging operations of decades ago.
